HASAN.VC’s Demo Day Brings Together 50 Startups Shaping the Future of Halal Innovation

HASAN.VC marked a major milestone this week with its largest-ever Halal Startup Showcase, celebrating the graduation of Cohort 003 from its five-week accelerator program and officially launching its third venture fund.

The full-day event, held at the Khazanah Auditorium at the Asia School of Business, brought together nearly 50 startups from 12 countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. It was the most diverse and international showcase the firm has hosted to date, pointing to the widening reach of values-driven entrepreneurship.

Investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders spent the day in back-to-back startup pitches, panel conversations, and networking sessions. The atmosphere reflected the growing traction of halal and ethical innovation in Southeast Asia and beyond, where purpose-built tech is now competing for capital and scale.

Since launching its accelerator, HASAN.VC has supported more than 120 startups and directly funded over 20 of them. Its founder network has grown to almost 200 entrepreneurs who are collectively building in sectors aligned with ethical and Shariah-compliant principles. The firm backs what it calls “Camel startups,” ventures that are built for resilience and long-term impact rather than fast burn and short runway.

“What we’re seeing is the rise of a new generation of founders who are building with purpose, solving real-world challenges with integrity and innovation,” said Mohd Akhtaar, General Partner and Head of Accelerator at HASAN.VC. “Our founders are redefining what it means to build with impact, and we’re proud to be part of that journey.”

The Showcase also marked the official launch of Fund Round 3, which will give investors new opportunities to support startups working at the intersection of profitability and ethical purpose. The firm is funded by a global group of angel backers across several continents and operates through a VC fund registered in Labuan along with an accelerator entity in Singapore.

“The momentum we’re seeing across halal and ethical tech is only the beginning. As we launch our fund’s third round, we’re opening the door to even greater collaboration and impact,” said Managing Partner Umar Munshi. “Our focus remains clear: to identify scalable halal and ethical ventures, accelerate their growth, and deliver meaningful returns for investors who believe in values-driven entrepreneurship.”

The event drew a cross-section of angel investors, venture capitalists, institutional partners, and corporate leaders who share a common belief that profit and purpose can coexist. Conversations throughout the day reflected a shift in focus from short-term returns to long-term vision, values, and meaningful change.

With Fund Round 3 now open, the firm is expanding its work to provide founders with capital, mentorship, and community support as they scale responsibly across the halal and ethical economy.
