HASAN.VC kicks off Cohort 002 of Accelerator Programme

HASAN.VC, a part of the Ethis Group, has announced that applications are now open for Cohort 002 of its Accelerator Programme. Starting on 6th January 2025, this seven-week online programme aims to support early-stage Halal and ethical startup founders. Following the successful launch of its inaugural cohort, which saw 42 startups participating, with 12 securing funding, this round invites online applications from founders with ambitions to scale within Southeast Asia’s high-growth region.

The HASAN.VC Accelerator is a seven-week online programme offering early-stage startups a support package that includes pre-seed funding of up to US$60,000 (RM268,000), mentorship from top-tier trainers and successful Muslim founders, and access to a network of over 500 angel investors. Participants will also benefit from a community of like-minded founders, access to a partner database of over 60 million Muslims, and government funding matching opportunities.

Aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by startup founders in Southeast Asia’s high-growth region, the Accelerator empowers entrepreneurs to scale their ventures with guidance and resources tailored to their needs. To date, the programme has helped launch innovative startups, such as Synbiozymes, Reyhut Automation, and GoBarakah.

“Our goal with the Accelerator programme is to continue fostering a founder-centric ecosystem where entrepreneurs can thrive. We are committed to supporting diverse founders, particularly Muslim and female entrepreneurs, who have historically been overlooked in traditional venture capital spaces,” said Umar Munshi, managing partner of HASAN.VC and Group MD of Ethis. “This Accelerator is more than just funding – it’s about creating a community where founders help one another succeed, share knowledge, and collaborate to drive innovation in Halal and ethical businesses.”

“This programme was built for founders by founders. We want to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses and succeed, surrounded by a supportive community that understands their unique challenges. We are particularly focused on helping Southeast Asian startups scale their impact both locally and globally,” said Mohd Akhtaar, principal at HASAN.VC.

He added that the company is observing a shift towards a more ethical and purpose-driven business environment in Southeast Asia, presenting an incredible opportunity for startups in the Halal economy to thrive.

“This is a movement to change the face of entrepreneurship, and we’re looking for the next wave of visionary founders who want to build businesses that are not only profitable but also socially responsible and aligned with Halal values,” Mohd Akhtaar said.

The HASAN.VC Accelerator will select ten startups per cohort to receive funding in exchange for equity. Each startup will also benefit from ongoing support, biannual evaluations, and exposure to potential institutional and angel investors. The programme culminates in a Demo Day, where participants showcase their progress to a network of investors and funding partners.

Founders and entrepreneurs are invited to apply to the programme to seize opportunities for growth, collaboration, and investment. With limited slots available, this programme presents a chance for early-stage, purpose-driven ventures to scale impactfully in Southeast Asia’s vibrant and expanding Halal economy.
